Betatene provides a unique combination of important natural carotenoids that are found in many fruits and vegetables. Betatene's rich and unique mixture of natural carotenoids include Beta-Carotene, Alpha-Carotene, Lutein, Zeaxanthin, and Cryptoxanthin. Betatene supplies several natural isomers which consists of a mixture of cis and trans isomers of beta-carotene, whereas synthetic beta-carotene consists mainly of the trans isomer.
Beta-carotene serves as an important safe source of Vitamin A, an essential nutrient. Supplements of vitamin A can cause toxicity at high doses, but beta-carotene, also called provitamin A, is converted into vitamin A (retinol) only as the body requires it, preventing vitamin A toxicity.
